Inspired by a desire to highlight and raise awareness of both pressing environmental issues and the important role of community media, PortMedia and Transition Newburyport partnered in 2012 to launch the inaugural Earth Port Film Festival.
Now in its ninth year the festival is well on its way to becoming a community tradition.
Festival goers have said:
“… what has impressed me is the quality of the films”
“ … it was so inspiring … I just couldn’t believe it.”
Proceeds from the Earth Port Film Festival are used to support the training and development of Newburyport youth and adults in the art of communicating via film and video at PortMedia.
PortMedia is Newburyport’s community media center, an authorized 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides independent and original public affairs, education, and government programming to Newburyport and the surrounding area.
Transition Newburyport is a grassroots approach to building community resilience in challenging times, focused on acting together locally to make the transition to the postcarbon age in a thoughtful and planned way, leading to a more fulfilling, socially connected, sustainable, resilient and self-reliant community.
